Adirondack camp interior with wood countertops, corrugated metal ceiling, rough-sawn beams, and warm cabin lighting

This Old Camp

Old-Camp Character, Reworked by Hand

A camp interior rebuilt around texture and patina — venetian plaster in the shower, wood countertops in the kitchen, a metal ceiling overhead, weathered shiplap on the walls, and rough-sawn beams tying it all together.

The Story

The direction for this camp was simple and exacting: "Venetian plaster shower, wood countertops, metal ceiling, weathered shiplap wall planks and rough sawn beams."

That short list became the whole language of the project. Nothing here is trying to feel new for the sake of new. The work leans into materials that already carry age, grain, and weather — the kind of details that make a camp feel settled the moment you walk in.

In the main room, rough-sawn beams frame the open living, dining, and kitchen spaces. Weathered shiplap wraps the walls with texture. A corrugated metal ceiling catches the low evening light and gives the room its camp-house edge. The wood countertop becomes the working center of the room, warm under hand and substantial enough to belong beside the beams.

The bathroom carries the same attitude in a quieter way. The venetian plaster shower brings a hand-troweled, seamless surface into a small space, paired with black hardware, wood trim, and stone-patterned tile for a finish that feels rustic without being rough.

What Went Into It

Materials & Craft

Venetian Plaster Shower

A seamless, hand-troweled plaster shower finish gives the bathroom depth and movement without grout lines, pairing the refined surface with black hardware and rustic wood trim.

Wood Countertops

The kitchen counter is built to feel substantial and lived-in, adding warmth and visible grain at the center of the open camp layout.

Metal Ceiling

Corrugated metal overhead brings a utilitarian camp quality to the room while reflecting warm light across the wood surfaces below.

Weathered Shiplap Wall Planks

Shiplap wall boards add age, rhythm, and texture, giving the interior the settled look of a camp that has gathered stories over time.

Rough-Sawn Beams

Heavy, rough-sawn beams define the openings and roofline, grounding the renovation with visible structure and handmade character.
